Innovation Reflection (Homework- 9/13/17)
Homework (Day 3):
- Select an innovation. It can be anything.Describe the positive and negative impacts it has had on the world. (A satisfactory answer reflects awareness and analysis of the effects on populations beyond the students’ immediately locale.)
- Speculate on how students 25 years from now will answer, "What computing innovation has had a significant impact on your life?" (A satisfactory answer includes a non-trivial consideration of how technology will likely change from, and perhaps build upon, what is currently available)
- Now think about your parent or an adult in your life and answer the following question based on what you think they would answer (You can also ask an adult this question in your life)"What computing innovation has had the most significant personal impact on your life?“
One innovation I have is that when you have rechargeable batteries but don’t have an outlet around you but you have a laptop, the batteries should have an adapter that can charge rechargeable batteries via USB. This allows more freedom on how to charge those batteries for electronics like cameras, lamps, and even a remote control. One huge impact would be that less batteries is wasted, therefore saving up energy for the long term. This could cause more metal and electrical wiring to be created for millions of citizens who would use them.
Students 25 years from now would have computing innovations especially public transportation that would leave a big impact to someone’s life. Public transportation is the only way to get around to places, so means to make it cheaper or even easier would be through digital purposes. As trains and buses already started this, paying would be as simple as scanning your phone tied to your bank account. Buses should be electric, since they can save so much energy to take a ton of people somewhere.
My parents said the biggest innovation to them was the smartphone because back then, the computer was the only pathway to the internet. The internet was very slow, they said, taking several minutes to boot up one passage on the web. Nowadays, smartphones are simple with the click of the screen in less than a second. This is very convenient and can save a lot of time for us.
